About David Miller
Country Preacher at Large

Early Life and Conversion
David Miller was born in 1946 and raised in Stringer, Mississippi. Growing up in the rural South, Miller’s early years were shaped by small-town values and a deep respect for faith and community. As a teenager, Miller experienced a profound spiritual awakening that led to his conversion to Christianity. At 18, he answered the call to ministry, beginning what would become a lifelong dedication to preaching the Word of God.
In 1963, Miller moved to Arkansas, marking a new chapter in his life and ministry.
Education and Pastoral Ministry
David pursued higher education with a strong commitment to theological studies. He graduated from State College of Arkansas, Williams Baptist College, and Arkansas Tech, equipping himself with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective ministry.
Over the next several decades, Miller pastored several churches in Arkansas, including Botkinburg Baptist Church, Rupert Baptist Church, and Belleville Baptist Church. His passion for sound doctrine and expository preaching earned him a reputation as a faithful shepherd.
David also served for 25 years as the Director of Missions for the Little Red River Baptist Association in Heber Springs, Arkansas. In this role, he mentored countless pastors and supported local churches in their ministries.

Evangelism and Line Upon Line Ministries
In 1995, David retired from his pastoral roles and transitioned to full-time evangelism, founding Line Upon Line Ministries. Adopting the title “Country Preacher-at-Large,” he dedicated himself to traveling across the country, preaching expository sermons and sharing the gospel.
Despite being confined to a wheelchair due to a degenerative muscular disease, Miller demonstrated remarkable perseverance and faith. Unable to physically hold a Bible, he memorized extensive portions of Scripture, delivering sermons with clarity, precision, and deep conviction. Over his career, he preached at more than 2,000 revival meetings, impacting countless lives.
Impact on the Southern Baptist Convention
David Miller was a longtime member of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and played a significant role in its conservative resurgence. As a trustee of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, he was a strong advocate for the authority of Scripture and doctrinal fidelity. His boldness and courage were exemplified in his interactions with seminary professors, as he unapologetically defended biblical truth.
The Expository Preaching Conference
In 1997, David spearheaded the creation of the Expository Preaching Conference (EPC), hosted by Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church in Heber Springs. Over 19 years, the conference trained more than 1,500 pastors, many of whom lacked formal seminary education. Miller’s heart for equipping pastors with sound exegetical skills made this conference a vital resource for the local church.

Personal Life and Resilience
David Miller was married to his beloved wife, Glenda, for over 50 years. Together, they raised a family and endured significant trials, including their son Josh’s tragic accident, which left him confined to a wheelchair. Despite personal hardships, Miller’s unwavering faith in the sovereignty of God served as a powerful testimony to those around him.
His daily discipline of reading 16 chapters of the Bible and committing passages to memory reflected his deep love for God’s Word. David’s devotion to Scripture was the foundation of his ministry and life.
Legacy and Passing
David Miller passed away on August 8, 2024, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy of faithfulness, perseverance, and boldness in proclaiming the gospel. He is remembered as a “country preacher” who stood tall in his commitment to the truth of God’s Word, despite physical limitations.
David’s influence extended far beyond the pulpit. From his stirring sermons, to his mentorship of young preachers, he left an indelible mark on the church. God has used him to influence many countless men and women with the gospel during his lifetime.
David Miller now rests in the presence of his Savior, free from the constraints of his earthly body, and his life remains a shining example of unwavering devotion to Christ.
“David Miller lived what he preached, and he preached and taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He affirmed without question the inerrancy and authority of the Bible. He also knew how to hold fast to the profession of his faith without wavering. He encouraged me immensely.”

“For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little,” (Isaiah 28:10) was the theme of Brother David’s Line Upon Line Ministries. It was the foundation of an expository preaching ministry that was captivating, creative and fully conformed to Scripture.”
