Newsletter for August 2026
Dear Friends of Line Upon Line Ministries,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! August has brought another season of change for our family. Ella has begun her freshman year (and first volleyball season) at Williams Baptist University, and Clayton has started his junior year of high school and continues to serve the ministry, creating helpful biblical content for our social media channels. It is hard to believe how quickly the years have passed by. Sara and I are thankful for the Lord’s faithfulness to our family, and we appreciate your prayers for both of our children as they begin another school year.
This month we also began a new 30-session course at Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church called Fundamentals of Soul Care: Helping People with the Word of God. The purpose of the course is to help Christians understand that caring for the souls of others is not something reserved only for pastors or professional counselors. God calls all believers to encourage, admonish, teach, comfort, and help one another with His Word. Over the coming months (perhaps 1.5 years), we will be working through the foundations of biblical counseling and practical ways Christians can faithfully minister Scripture to people who are hurting and struggling. We are also making these sessions available online so others can benefit from the training.
We recently released Episode 20 of the Line Upon Line Podcast: “Handling Conflict God’s Way | God’s Restraining Grace.” In the first portion of the episode, I walk through some practical biblical principles for handling conflict from James 3:13–4:3. The episode then concludes with Bro. David Miller preaching “God’s Restraining Grace” from Hosea 2.
New Book Project
Work is also continuing on our next David Miller sermon volume. Because of the encouraging response to The Doctrines of Grace: Five Sermons by David Miller, we are preparing a new collection featuring Bro. David’s expository sermons through the book of Jude, called Contending for the Faith. Lord willing, we hope to have it available within the next month. We would appreciate your prayers as we work to preserve and publish these sermons. Our desire is that another generation will be able to hear and read the faithful exposition of God’s Word that characterized Bro. David’s ministry.
Thank you for continuing to pray for Line Upon Line Ministries, share these resources, and encourage us in this work. We are grateful for each of you.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom.” — Colossians 3:16
