Dear Friends,
Greetings from beautiful Heber Springs, Arkansas. I just came in from being outside eight hours today and I loved every minute of it. Only reason I came in was to freshen up a bit to go to Malachi’s two ballgames. I’m under conviction for having so much fun in life!
We are in an election cycle. All the politicians are chiming in regarding social issues. Donald Trump recently made this statement (which he retracted) “if abortion were illegal there ought to be some punishment for women who have the procedure.” This statement raised a hue and a cry from both the pro-choice and the pro-life folks. Politics make for strange bedfellows!
Many years ago, I preached to 20,000 people on the steps of the Capitol in Arkansas on the subject of “The American Holocaust of Abortion.” I had three points:
I. The Magnitude of the Problem
II. The Mentality of the Pro-Abortionists
III. The Meanness of the Participants
A. Conspiring Politicians
B. Compromising Preachers
C. Complacent People
Under this last item I said the men who impregnate and encourage abortions are mean. The doctors who perform the procedure are mean. The women who have the abortions, though often confused, the recipients of bad counsel, and desperate, are nonetheless, mean. It’s just downright mean to abort a baby! My position on this subject has not changed, evolved or been ameliorated.
The question for the day: If abortions were illegal (I pray someday soon that will be the case) should a woman who gets an illegal abortion be held criminally responsible? Answer: yes. For sure we should have compassion and seek to minister, but we must obey the law.
Beloved we live in a pagan society. We have lost our moorings. We are no longer a Christian nation. However, I suppose a country preacher like me has “job security.” If ever there was a need for old fashioned Bible preaching it is today. We have 51 preachers from California to Virginia coming to Heber Springs on April 28-30 for training in expository preaching. Please pray God will raise up mighty expositors of the Word of God.
Thank you for your support of Line Upon Line Ministries.
On the Potter’s Wheel,
David Miller
