Dear Friends,
Greetings from the Millers. We are off to a fast start to the New Year. The weather has been great here in Razorback country. Josh, Eric and I have worked a couple of days at the farm and enjoyed every minute of it. We are refurbishing an old barn that was nearly fallen down. We are building a nice “motel/trophy room” complete with all amenities.
Our farm is located on Bothersome Creek. It is as remote as it gets in the Ozarks. We want to make this facility available to preachers, at no cost, who need time for reflection, renewal, quietude, healing, etc., etc. Perhaps I can post some before and after pictures when we are finished with the project. Or better, perhaps you could come visit us and stay at the Bothersome Barn.
In preparation for two sermons at the True Church Conference, I have memorized Romans 3:9-21 and 5:12-21. This has been no small challenge for me. The federal headship of Adam and our representation in him has produced profound humility in my heart. Here is a quote from Dr. Charles Hodge that sums up the matter, “if it is consistent with the Divine character that we should suffer for what Adam did, how much more may we expect to be made happy by what Christ has done.”
My second sermon is on the “Anatomy of Depravity.” It has nine points:
- Regarding our hearts – there is none righteous
- Regarding our intellects – there is none that understandeth
- Regarding our wills – there is none that seeketh after God
- Regarding our legs – they are gone out of the way
- Regarding our throats – they are an open sepulcher
- Regarding our lips – the poison of asps is under our lips
- Regarding our tongues – we have used deceit
- Regarding our mouths – they are full of cursings and bitterness
- Regarding our eyes – there is no fear of God before their eyes
Hallelujah for the cross!
Please know that your investment in our ministry is a great help to us. Thank you.
On the Potter’s Wheel,
Bro. David
